Christmas Activities with Dogs

It’s almost Christmas! Our four legged friends should be excited as we are. As PawsAp we’ve come up with five activities that are sure to put you and your dog in the holiday spirit!

Dog Christmas Treats

Bake delicious Christmas treats with your dog, and for your dog . There are plenty of recipes for dog treats that can be found online or in cookbooks for dogs. You can even find a few delicious treats here. Most of these dog treat recipes will be fun to make and decorate, and the taste-testing session will be one of your dog’s favorite holiday activities.

2. Include Your Dog in Holiday Outings

When making plans over the holidays, consider the events where you can include your pet. Christmas tree lighting, finding the perfect Christmas tree, singing Christmas carols door to door in your neighborhood. If you have a well-behaved dog you can easily bring him or her along for some of this holiday fun.

3. Christmas Movie Marathon

Just grab a warm blanket and some cookies, invite your dog on the couch, and cozy up with your favorite holiday features! Of course, don’t forget to include a movie or two that your fury friend will enjoy, like How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This is a great way to take a break from the holiday mayhem and get some rest and recreation with your pup.

4. Volunteering With Your Dog

Spread the holiday spirit by helping someone in need. Contact your local nursing home or hospital to discuss opportunities to bring your dog in to cheer up the residents. If you’re ready to care for a new dog, consider opening up your home to a foster dog from your local animal shelter, or simply donate dog supplies. Most shelters and rescues have wish lists of specific items that they need. You can’t go wrong giving back during the Christmas season!
